As per the circular No. 29/2005 of the Ministry of Education our center was functioning as Zonal Computer Resource Centre from 30.10.2006. At this time Mr. Sellathurai Thiviyaraj is the Manager and Mr. K. Manivannan and Mrs. Rubini D.M. David(Miss.R.D.Jeyarajah) also served as instructors. In 2009, Mr. K. Manivannan resigned from duty.
It is the first Computer Resource Centre in Sri Lanka to be registered with TVEC and has been functioning with registration number P20/0057 since 2011.
As per the letter dated 05.01.2022 of the Ministry of Education ED/ST/REF/DL/09/13/03 dated 05.03.2022 the Centre for Information Technology and Distance Education (ITDT) is functioning from 09.03.2022. It offers NVP Leve 3C NVP Leve 4 certificates and courses. In between period in 2022 to 2024 Mr.R.Phojithan was as an Instructor. Now function based on MOE circular 26/2024 dated 17.07.2024
